Forgiving Sir Patrick explores the bewildering homophobia of the well-known astronomer, Sir Patrick Moore, from the perspective of an openly-queer man. The feeling of personal betrayal, not to mention our LGBTQIA+ community’s sense of hurt, colours this poem before tracing a sense of poetic forgiveness eventually felt by one and all for our distant uncle on the television. As such, this groundbreaking interdisciplinary collaboration between the poet David William Parry, author and broadcaster Anthony Peake, and talent-scout as well as filmmaker Daniele-Hadi Irandoost, marks the beginning of a new trajectory in British poetics.
