Contrary to received opinion, Rev Parry is convinced that Blavatsky's open admiration of Russian Orthodoxy influenced the development of Theosophy, while echoes of this deep mystical tradition are found throughout her works. Indeed, the theology of the Philokalia seems to resound throughout The Secret Doctrine, not to mention her outlook on mystical philosophies, generally. In which case, this lecture is a tentative approach to an often-ignored undercurrent in her trailblazing corpus.
